Plus Size Clothing Stores, Boutiques, etc... (UPDATED)

I received messages on where to find nice plus size clothes. Now being that some of you are not in the United States I have put together list of places that you can purchase from online. There are many more plus size clothing stores and designers than my list. Google (or any other search engine) can be your best friend to find plus size clothing stores other than what is in your neighborhood. I hope this list helps and if you have any questions just ask. Since it has been well over a year from this original post, I thought I would give you and updated list!

These stores ranges in their sizes and prices. Their style of clothing are not all the same also. Here's to happy shopping :)

Top 5 Mistakes Plus Size Women Make in Fashion

Being a proclaimed fashionista is awesome as style sees no size and every one's type of style varies by the individual. When looking for that killer look that will turn heads or get tons of like on social media sometimes these fabulous curvy ladies can go a little too far to the left. Find out the top 5 mistakes women make and how to improve on it.

1. Not buying the right size

This is a very common mistake women make. It is tough to find trendy clothing in larger sizes specially women over a size 2x or 22. Always make sure to check for a few things: make sure your buttons are not pulling the material. Your fabric should lad flat and smooth. If the waist of your pants is digging into you stomach, they are to small. If your fabric stretches to the point it becomes see through, than it is too small.

2. Do not always dress age appropriate

Majority of trendy plus size fashions in stores are junior plus sizes. We must remember that even thought that top and leggings are cute, you may be a little to old to wear it. It is nice to find and wear cool prints, but just make sure they are appropriate for the occasion.

3. Believe a girdle(spanx) will fix everything

Girdles are made to smooth your rolls and pull you in a little, however, they are not miracle workers. Having a foundation piece is great for wearing bodycon dresses and to just smooth you out and enhance your curves.

4. Not mix and matching prints and colors properly

There is a right and wrong way to mix and match prints and colors. Sometimes women can do too much and end up looking like a Christmas tree. Understand that less is more and although mixing and matching can be show stopping when done properly, there is fine line when you can go to far.

5. Being too insecure to wear fabulous fashions

Body image issues keeps many women from dressing to their highest potential. They follow too many fashion rules which hinders the possibility of truly looking your best. Not all fashion rules are meant to be followed. Your style should tell what type of person you are without you having to speak.

The only fashion rules you should follow are ones that will bring out your inner fabulousness. Remember not everything is meant for everyone so be aware of how you look in certain items to make sure you look your best!

Ashley Stewart Signature Collection Launch with Kendra Porter

I was invited to attend Ashley Stewart's Signature Collection Launch event in Harlem, NY by the fabulous stylist Kendra Porter. I couldn't believe she invited me herself. Being that I am in Syracuse and this event is in NYC (like most plus size events), I probably wouldn't have went if I was invited by a random person. I saw this as an opportunity to connect and network with people that can help me grow my craft and business.

I created a plan, got a couple of girls to go with me and we hit the road. Three and a half hours later we were checking into our hotel and getting ready for the launch. Believe it or not but this was my first time in New York City and I was excited. I definitely wanted to jump into the city life and feel the vibe. The event was great! Kendra gave a very nice presentation of the collection and provided helpful information on finding clothing to flatter our body types. We also got to shop in the mean time and who wouldn't love that.

Meeting Kendra Porter was awesome. She actually recognized and came up to me and we ended up speaking for majority of the event when we could. I was also able to meet and speak with Erica from the corporate side of Ashley Stewart. I know that Ashley Stewart is very active in the community and also does a lot of work with bloggers and other plus size fashion mediums. I left the event with my goals accomplished. I got to meet and have great conversations with Kendra and Erica. I planted the seeds that I firmly believe will grow.

This will not be the last time I head to NYC for Size Fabulous. I only see great things in it's future!!!

My Love for the Babydoll Dress

I love me a babydoll dress, BUT babydoll dresses and plus sizes can be tricky. A lot of times I find that they will make you look bigger than you are and does nothing for your shape. What I have found that makes the difference is the material of the dress. Stiff and none stretchable materials is what will have you looking boxy. You want to find the most breathable, stretchy and flowy (if that's a word) material. It will flow with your body and lay perfectly to your frame so your not looking like a lamp shade. Babydoll dresses are the cutest so get you one.

The Mastered Bun and Skater Dress

Buns are all the rage in hairstyles this summer. They have a way of making you look more polished and chic...unless your doing a messy bun. I have been working on perfecting my bun without using any tools like socks or bun creators. My hair is long but gets thin towards the end, but today I was able to create the best bun yet without any gaps and I am loving it!

Quick Style Note: As much as I love a cute skater dress or skirt, the length is always a challenge for me. I have a hard time finding one that will keep me from mooning people. I did find this dress that has a length that I am comfortable with, just don't let the wind blow...yikes. Since I loved the length, I bought this dress in two other colors...yes I have three of the same style dress. It's just so fun and flirty I couldn't pass them up.

Sneak Peek at Sonsi's 2013 Costume Shop

I had the privilege to get a sneak peek at Sonsi's Costume Shop for 2013, which will officially launch this Saturday with sizes 12-30. I know Halloween is a couple months away but many people start to look for costumes as early as the end of August. I haven't dressed up much for Halloween since my teenage years and even then I would have to throw things together from my closet since most stores didn't carry costumes in my size or all the cute costumes were sold out by the time I went.

I am learning that to stay on top of the fashion game as well as to get the bomb items,us plus size women want, that online is wear it's at. Although I hate it, I am happy that there are options for us. Since my little ones are old enough to start going trick or treating I am definitely going to join in the festivities of getting a costume.

Sonsi's Costume Shop has every costume you can think of from characters to occupations. I know where I'll be getting my costume from. Here are a few pictures of fabulous costumes they have in the shop.

This year is all about having fun for Halloween so what do you want to dress up as?

Simple Goes a Long Way OOTD

It takes me forever to get dressed most mornings. Either I can't find what I really want to wear or I hate what I picked out the night before. Today was one of those days. I wanted to wear a skirt but didn't want to wear heels. I'm still working on my mid heel options as most of my shoes are at least 4 inches. BUT I didn't have any flats that I was feeling....The Struggle

After finding the skirt I wanted to wear I was stuck without a shirt....that was a journey too. I wish I could have a closet like Cher in Clueless or my own stylist. So what I ended up doing was just put on a simple black top and cute 3 inch sandals. I added some jewelry to keep my look from not being boring also. Today was a very simple look but it goes a long way.

My Asos Haul

I recently won a $100 gift card from the blogger Manfattan for Asos and boy was I excited. I can't shop for myself as much as I would like so to get a gift card for a generous amount of money was a bit of a blessing I feel. I am a newbie to online shopping as I have a hard enough time in a regular store finding clothes to fit my body perfectly. I am getting better though. Finding how sizes run and how they fit will come with time but I love finding out lol. I bought 4 tops and 3 pencil skirts (my new addiction). One of the tops will not be in this post as I have already blogged about in another post. I am addicted to pencil skirts because it hugs you in all the right places and can be dressed up and down in so many ways. But enough of my babbling...all tops and bottoms are from Asos Curves and the Shoe details will be at the bottom of the post.

Date Night

It has been a long time since we have had a date night. It has been even longer since I have been out period. I don't go out much and it doesn't help that we rarely have a sitter to do so. My mom wanted to give us a night off and we surely wasn't going to turn her offer down. We wanted to go to a club called Lava at the casino but unfortunately we couldn't so we opted for dinner and a late movie. We went to Friday's and I had the Jack Daniel Burger and it was the BOMB. That Jack Daniel's sauce was amazing. The movie we saw was Wolverine and I definitely recommend it. It was a great night and can't wait to do it again, whenever that may be.

65 Degrees in July.....The Nerve

Syracuse weather is so crazy. We had a heat wave of 90 degree weather for a week straight, get a little rain and next thing you know you need a jacket in July. On a positive note I wore a top from Asos Curve I recently bought yyaaayyy for me lol. So even though the weather sucked my fringe top made me smile.

Its Just Those Rainy Days

Woke up to rain this morning so I had to change my outfit. The original plan was to wear a cute pencil skirt and heels, but I refuse to have wet legs and feet so I switched out the skirt for pants and heels for loafers.
