They Sell Plus Size but Not in The Store

I love to shop and I know many of you do too. One thing I know we all hate is that most stores only carry small sizes in the store and refer you to their online site to buy plus sizes. How annoying is that. I remember times when I was a teenager shopping with my friends and I usually had to watch them buy things. Not because I didn't have money but because they didn't carry my size. It was tough back then and most times I would avoid shopping with my friends.

I don't understand why stores who has a plus size line won't put it in their store. They will get so much more traffic and sales. I personally don't like to shop online unless its shoes or accessories. I like to try on clothes before I buy. Having the right fit is very important to me and I don't want to deal with returning things. Some stores have moved in their plus size line like Forever21, but that's not enough.

I find it hurtful to plus size women to make us go online to buy your product. We are good enough to spend our money on your things but not good enough to buy it in the store. Do they feel we will scare smaller size women away if we shop there too???? I doubt we will every get the answer but we must demand more of clothing stores. I refuse to only shop online for my clothes. The more we let the owners know how we feel the closer we can get to all plus size lines being in the stores.

Peace & Love

  1. At last some one else who voices the truth. I refuse to bug full price items from next on line, if im not good enough for your shop your not good enough to have my money, I hear new look are moving there inspire to online only so that will be another company who only gets me in the sale. If you only have online like asos curve thats fine you get my money, do not discriminate I fat not skint lol

  2. I agree. If you have stores they need to be in the stores also.

  3. The reason stores don't carry plus sizes is actually due to floor space; a store that carries plus as well as regular sizes would need to be half again or more as large, and every square foot costs money in retail.

Having said that, I complain every single time I go into stores like J.Jill, Eddie Bauer (and Coldwater Creek, who stopped carrying 3X and pants over 18 in stores). I consider it a "fat tax" to have to pay shipping when I have to return clothing that doesn't fit correctly. It irritates the heck out of me.

But it isn't due to some desire not to have us in stores. It's purely economics. Plus size may sort of start at 14, but realistically most of the stores carry higher then that, covering the "average" american woman. The truly plus sized (18 or 20 and above) are a smaller proportion of all customers, and therefore don't spend as much money. The money made has to offset the cost per square foot, and in general it doesn't.

  4. I AGREE AND ITS JUST SILLY. THEY SHOULD KNOW THAT THEY ARE LOSING SO MUCH MONEY BY NOT KEEPING THE PLUS SIZE CLOTHS IN THE STORE...MOST SHOPS THAT HAVE PLUS SIZES ALWAYS SELL OUT THOSE FIRST....ALWAYS...ITS A SURE THING BECAUSE WE PLUS SIZE WOMEN ALMOST ALWAYS GRAB WHATEVER FITS NICELY WITHOUT THINKING TOO MUCH ABOUT IT AND KNOWING THERE ISNT MUCH OPTION OUT THERE...I REALLY NEED TO FIND A STORE IN ABUJA THAT SELLS TRENDY COPORATE PLUS SIZE JACKETS AND DRESSES....*ROLLS EYES*
